Shipping / Receiving Leader

Shift Hours: 1st Shift 7 AM to 3:30 PM M-F

Summary / General Description:

Working Lead responsible for 3-5 direct reports. Key member of the company operational team.

Keeping track of stock and inventory. Have responsibility for all requirements for outbound shipments including accuracy, on time delivery and customer satisfaction. Ensure timely processing of all incoming shipments, recognizing priorities and make sure all deliveries are routed correctly. Ensure the timely issuing of all parts and raw materials to production

Reports to: Operations Manager

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

Department Responsibilities:

• Maintain the skills and knowledge to fill in for other team members as required
• Ensure adherence to all company guidelines and procedures

• Work in a QMS environment

• Read and complete all paperwork and documentation accurately

• Ensure all customer packing and shipping requirements and specifications are followed
• Complete small parcel and LTL Logistics
• Take an active role in process improvements
• Maintain positive work relationships with peers and outside vendors
• Maintain cycle counting inventory system

• Follow inventory control "Best Practices" in maintaining warehouses
• Adapt and react quickly to changes based on Customer delivery requirements.
• Analyze and resolve work problems and assist workers in solving work problems.
• Recommend training and development of existing personnel skills.
• Ensure area is kept clean and delegate housekeeping duties, as necessary.
• Maintain company Safety Standards.
• Supervise team members in the shipping / receiving areas.
• Track personnel efficiencies and recommend any changes.
• Interview, Hire and Train team members.

• Assist in employee performance reviews and evaluations.
• Work towards achieving goals set by Operations Manager.
• Keep Operations Manager informed of all key issues.

Quality Responsibilities:

• Ensure product being shipped meets Customer requirements.
• Take the lead in resolving quality issues and problems.

Continuous Improvement Responsibilities:

• Recommend measures to improve methods, equipment performance, and quality of products.
• Implementation and maintenance of 5S program / standard work (organization of workstations) in entire area.
• Any other improvement projects as assigned.
• Assist in teambuilding activities.

Educational Level:

• High School Diploma / or Equivalent
• Any college experience a plus.
• Supervisory management degree or in the process to obtain would be a plus.

Previous Experience:

• 5+ years' experience in shipping and receiving is required
• 2+ years of experience as a lead is required
• Experience in a machine shop environment a plus
• Computer skills such as Outlook, Excel, word, ERP systems,

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to be able to be on feet for entire shift.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
